Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs Win Basketball
“Court Of Dreams”
For Children’s Receiving Home From
Maloof Sports & Entertainment and Sacramento Monarchs
In 2005, a unique partnership was formed between Northern California
area Rotary Clubs, local Kiwanis Clubs and the Children’s Receiving
Home to win the “Court of Dreams,” a national WNBA promotion that
rewards the largest group attending a WNBA game in June.
Though the Washington Mystics won the national promotion, Joe and
Gavin Maloof have stepped up to show their appreciation to the Rotary
and Kiwanis group’s exceptional effort and results. True to their
family's legacy of generosity to charities, Joe and Gavin Maloof
are building a new basketball court for the Children's Receiving
Home on behalf of the Rotary and Kiwanis clubs.
“Local Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs have truly come together to help
children in need,” said Joe Maloof, owner of the Sacramento Monarchs.
“That commitment to the community is something we share and helps
us shine the spotlight on what we already know about Sacramento
- that we have the best fans in the world who care about the community
in which we live.”
“Organizations and people that give back to the community are what
continue to inspire us to do the same,” added Gavin Maloof. “We’re
honored to have the opportunity to be a part of this and bring these
kids a basketball court on which to dream.”
“This is an incredibly meaningful contribution to our kids and programs
that will make a difference in thousands of young lives every year,”
said David Ballard, chief executive officer of the Children's Receiving
Home of Sacramento. “We owe the Maloofs, Kiwanis and Rotary a great
deal of thanks for making this happen. What a great effort and a
generous contribution!”
- 5,748 tickets made Rotary, Kiwanis and the supporters of the
Children's Receiving Home the largest group in Sacramento Monarchs
and Kings history!
- Increased exposure for all three organizations through every
avenue of the public media.
- Over 4,600 tickets were donated to underserved children in
the Greater Sacramento Area.
- Over $10,000 was raised for Rotary's Polio Plus and the Kiwanis
Family House.
- The children of the Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento
will receive a Sacramento Monarchs Court of Dreams (ground breaking
in Summer 2006)
